The Phoenix rising from the flames is a mythological symbol of power, strength, and renewal. Upon perceiving its impending death, the Phoenix self-ignites and burns to ashes, whereupon a newly revived Phoenix rises from these flames and ashes to live again. On the reverse side of the card, the print is dedicated to Jenny, a friend of mine who is in the process of overcoming great obstacles and rising from the flames of injustice.
